Rug Cleaning in Ballantyne
Collection and delivery in Ballantyne are included. We take the rug back to the workshop, wash it properly, and bring it home.
What Ballantyne is built from
A two-thousand-acre area at the bottom of the county against the South Carolina line, largely built out from the 1990s onward around the corporate park started in 1992. Planned subdivisions, golf frontage, and open-plan houses with two-storey family rooms, tile entries and an attached garage that everybody actually walks through.
Commuting families, a great many with children and dogs, and a lot of houses furnished all at once rather than over decades. Rugs here are usually bought for the room and for the traffic, which in practice means machine-made polypropylene or polyester in the big sizes.
The Ballantyne problem
Synthetic rugs get dirty in a way wool does not, and the owner is usually the last to know. Polypropylene and polyester are oleophilic — oil-loving — and what comes into a house like this is oily: cooking aerosol that drifts out of an open kitchen, skin oil, driveway sealer and asphalt residue off shoes and paws, sunscreen, dog. That soil bonds to the fibre rather than sitting on it as loose dust, which is why these rugs vacuum up looking fine and feel faintly tacky underfoot, and why the traffic lane goes grey and stays grey no matter how often it is run over. Water alone does nothing to it. It takes a proper wash with chemistry that will lift oil, worked through the whole rug and rinsed out completely, because leftover detergent in a synthetic pile is itself a soil magnet and the rug re-soils faster afterwards than it did before. The good news is that these are robust rugs: they take a stronger treatment than wool ever could, and they usually come back further than their owners expect.
If that sounds like your rug, send the form and describe what you are seeing. We will tell you whether it needs the full treatment or not.
